NTSA: How to Apply for Transfer of Motor Vehicle Ownership Through E-Citizen

Following the migration of NTSA services to E-Citizen, there has been changes to the process of applying to transfer vehicle ownership from the seller to the buyer. Both the buyer and the seller need to log in to their E-Citizen accounts to process the transfer, but the process has to be initiated by the seller. Here is the updated process:

For the Seller (who has to initiate the process):

  • Step 1: Log into your E-Citizen account and select the new NTSA service portal.
  • Step 2: Once there, select the car you wish to transfer ownership.
  • Step 3: Go to motor vehicle services, select vehicle transfer and click apply.
  • Step 4: Upload the car’s original logbook in PDF format and fill in the details of the new owner i.e. the buyer.
  • Step 5: Submit the details and make payments* for the transfer.
  • Step 6: Go back to the homepage, access notification and consent the transfer

For the Buyer:

  • Step 1: Log into your E-Citizen account and select the new NTSA service portal.
  • Step 2: In the homepage, access notification and accept or decline the consent notification (If there is no consent notification, the seller is yet to initiate the transfer).
  • Step 3: Fill in the required details, click preview, tick the declaration box and submit.
  • Step 4: Wait for the application to be approved.

    i have transfered a motor vehicle it did not have any financial but they are insisting i put a financial what am i suppose to put on the slot for the financial and the car was bought in cash

    how do i do the transfer of the car to my name.Bought from insurance after the previous owner car was written off and disposed to the insurance and got paid with a new one.He’s insisting he transferred to the insurance although the logbook bears his name.Where do i start

      If the logbook is still in his name, try to talk to him to initiate the transfer.
