Eldoret Express Bus Hits Stalled Fuel Tanker in Kikuyu Killing 2 People

A 62-seater bus belonging to Eldoret Express Company rammed into a fuel tanker that had stalled on the road killing 2 people and injuring 10 others. The accident happened along James Gichuru Rironi road in Muguga, Kikuyu area at around 5:30am on Saturday morning.

Confirming the accident, Kikuyu Police Commander Ronald Kirui said the driver lost control of the bus that was ferrying passengers to Nairobi and rammed the tanker from behind. He blamed poor visibility and urged drivers to be careful on the road this rainy season.

The impact was felt the most by passengers seated on the front of the bus.

The injured were rushed to Kikuyu Hospital for treatment while the bodies of the deceased taken to Thogoto Mission Hospital Mortuary.

The wreckage of the bus was towed to Kikuyu Police Station.

NTSA is urging road users to be careful on the road and for passengers to speak out. They are also running a countrywide crackdown checking on compliance and enforcing traffic rules and regulations.
