Cars launched in 2015 are turning 10 this year! Here is a list we have put together of some standout models launched that year, including luxury vehicles, compact SUVs and a game-changing electric car. While a few of them have since been discontinued, they still left a lasting mark on the automotive world.

Bentley Bentayga

One of the most significant launches of 2015 was the Bentley Bentayga, which marked the British luxury brand’s entry into the SUV market. Combining ultimate luxury with off-road capabilities, the Bentayga was named after Mount Bentayga, a peak in the Canary Islands. The vehicle quickly became a symbol of status and elegance, featuring a W12 engine, a V8 option and even a hybrid powertrain. Since its debut, it has remained a cornerstone of Bentley’s lineup and continues to appeal to the ultra-wealthy across the globe.

Jaguar XE

Another standout of 2015 was the Jaguar XE, a compact luxury sedan that aimed to rival the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. With a lightweight aluminium body, performance-oriented design and a sleek exterior, the XE offered a balance of speed and sophistication. Although it was discontinued in 2024, the XE remains a popular choice in the used car market, with many enthusiasts still appreciating its elegant presence on the road.

Tesla Model X

In the world of electric vehicles, the Tesla Model X made a significant impact with its falcon-wing doors and groundbreaking technology. As Tesla’s first electric SUV, the Model X featured autopilot capabilities and long-range performance, making it a revolutionary model in the electric vehicle segment. Since its launch, the car has consistently ranked as one of the safest cars in the world due to its, among others large crumple zone and low centre of gravity.

Suzuki Baleno

The Baleno nameplate found life again in 2015 with the launch of Suzuki Baleno. Introduced as a compact, affordable hatchback, the Baleno offers great value for money and has become a popular choice in emerging markets. In Kenya, Toyota Kenya also offers a rebadged version of the Baleno as the new look Toyota Starlet.

Rolls-Royce Dawn

The Rolls-Royce Dawn was another exciting debut in 2015, providing a luxury convertible experience unlike any other. With its V12 engine and ultra-luxurious design, the Dawn represented the epitome of open-air motoring. Unfortunately production of Rolls-Royce Dawn ended in 2023.

Renault Kwid

Renault also had a strong showing in 2015, with the release of the Kwid and the Kadjar. The Renault Kwid was launched as an affordable compact SUV, primarily targeting emerging markets. With its rugged SUV styling and small footprint, the Kwid made an immediate impact in places like India and Latin America. It was even launched in Kenya, where it quickly became an affordable option for first-time car buyers.

Renault Kadjar

The Kadjar, another Renault model introduced in 2015, offers a stylish alternative to other compact SUVs on the market. Built on the same platform as the Nissan Qashqai, the Kadjar provides a mix of practicality and elegance. Available in Kenya as well, it remains a popular choice among buyers seeking a versatile and stylish SUV.

Mercedes-Benz GLC

The Mercedes-Benz GLC also made its debut in 2015, replacing the GLK as the brand’s luxury compact SUV. The GLC offers superb driving dynamics, cutting-edge technology and a premium design that appeals to luxury SUV buyers worldwide. Its popularity endures to this day, and it continues to be a top choice in the luxury SUV market, where it is highly regarded for its refinement and performance.
